The ECE store at the University of Illinois has the best prices on campus, and a huge selection. You'd think people were just beating down their doors huh? Well, there was one small problem. The store was hidden way down in the corner of a basement. Nobody knew where it was. To solve this, a simple, straightforward yet attractive signage system was created to point you to the store no matter where you were. The signs were then placed all over the ECE building. Bet people are beating down the doors now!
The Newman Foundation recently opened the doors to it's newly renovated dormatory - a 40 million dollar investment. They needed a brochure to attract potential residents that was as impressive as the facility it spoke to. Working with Newman's Brand colors, a vibrant young feeling piece was created conveyed it's message in a logical attractive manner.
As part of a major overall renovation, the Newman Foundation is giving their marketing materials a more high-end look and feel. This brochure is one such example. Meant to impress, it takes advantage of striking imagery on the cover for visual impact, along with solid typography inside to deliver a clear message. It was printed on a felt cover stock to make it feel as rich as it looks
A nonprofit organization, The Newman foundation relies heavily on donations to fund their mission. To meet this need, marketing materials are needed that will speak to their donors. This display is one such example. 3x6 foot, it holds key talking points about their mission while housed in a very aesthetic design
Not all good design is born of a trove of imagery, long timelines and big budgets, and and this piece speaks to that. This Invitation achieves it's impressive look with little more than a single image and tastefully used typography.
When the new restaurant Kofusion hit downtown Champaign, it was obvious by the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the place that something special had just opened, and they needed a brand to reflect it. Portraits of signature dishes placed against a simple blue background has combined to create a recognizable look that says Kofusion. You may see more examples of this in the web gallery.
The College of Education at the University of Illinois had an existing brochure system that created with traditional offset printing in mind. However they had a need for a digitally printed, smaller brochure that would still fit within the system, have a feel of it's own but not appear as a squashed down version of it's larger companions. The system's branding elements were applied, then a design created that took advantage of the smaller scale. The end result was a piece that both fits in the system but still stands on it's own.
Black and white does not have to be boring, and this invitation to the Jim Evans Endowment fund proves just that.. Appropriate use of contrast, well-placed imagery along with elegant typography all blend together to create sophisticated piece that honors the person it is for.
The Department of Chemestry wanted a gift for Professor Charles P. Slichter that reflected his academic lineage. A watercolor painting in the style of an illuminated manuscript was done, along with complimentary typography used to outline his lineage. Finally it was printed as a one-time digital print on watercolor paper, then placed into a custom frame.
4H is so much more than a rural agriculture club; it is a live, vibrant organization that crosses all sectors. The Illinois 4H Foundation needed a new look that would embody that. A four color design was created that had a very organic look and feel as well as showcased all aspects of 4H through the use of image variety.
